Destination: Texas — Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Houston, El Paso

Time of Year: Summer (June, July, August)

Average Temperatures: 85° F to 100° F

Typical Weather: Hot, humid, and muggy

Sarah Means, cofounder of the bespoke cowboy boot brand Miron Crosby, knows Texas just as well as she knows boots.

That innate knowledge comes from first-hand experience on her family's ranch in West Texas — and it's something she, along with her sister, Lizzie, used to their advantage when starting their brand in Dallas in 2016. Since then, Miron Crosby boots have graced the pages of Vogue, Elle, and Harper's Bazaar, among others.

Sarah describes her personal style as "feminine, colorful, and flowy," which is exactly how you'll want to pack for a summer trip to Texas. Think linen, loose fabrics, and plenty of summer dresses.

That's because, yes, it gets hot and often humid, depending on where you're visiting. But if you pack properly, you'll find yourself embracing the Texas heat in no time. To do so, however, you'll want some advice from an expert. And no one knows how to survive a summer in the heat better than a native Texan.

Below, Sarah gives us the inside scoop on her travel favorites and what to bring with you on your next trip to the Lone Star State. While cowboy boots might not be the first travel shoe you think of, Sarah may convince you otherwise...

My tried-and-true outfit to travel in…

My secret to comfy chic travel is a long slip dress with a pull-on crew neck sweater over and cowboy boots. The dress feels like pajamas; the sweater is cozy for the cold plane and will make you look like you actually got dressed.

My go-to travel bag is…

I’ve owned my military blue Rimowa cabin roller bag for 10 years, since I graduated from college. It is worth the hype (and every single penny) for its lightweight durability. Plus, it’s still sleek and dark for travel, but a rare enough color that nobody will accidentally grab it off of the conveyor belt at arrivals.

Favorite pair of shoes to travel in?

Wear your Miron Crosby cowboy boots on the plane because:

1) They’re comfortable

2) Most of our women’s styles are constructed without steel shanks, so they won’t alarm at security, and, most importantly...

3) They take up so much room in your suitcase, so remember: Wear, don't pack. My current favorite is our light pink metallic Maggie boots.

What’s your favorite thing about a Texas summer?

PATIOS! There’s something magical about summer Friday afternoons in Texas, despite the heat. I’m excited to sneak out of the office a few hours early for ranch waters al fresco at my favorite spots around Dallas and out in West Texas at the ranch!

Favorite brands of clothing you gravitate toward in the summer?

I live in my cotton Sue Sartor dresses; I’m obsessed with her botanical textiles. Her dresses travel beautifully, they’re breezy, and I get tons of compliments each time I have one on.

If you know me, you know I love a matching set. Cara Cara does the BEST ones!

You won’t find me this summer without my Cesta Collective bucket bag. They’re the BEST and oh so cute and structured. I live for a bucket.

Packing List: What to Bring with You for a Summer Trip to Texas

Here's what Sarah recommends packing in your suitcase if you're visiting Texas in the summer.

Your homework before you come (or on the plane) is a little light reading...

White linen is a must for those aforementioned patio evenings.

Cowboy boots that say it all, literally.

A hero product from a Texas-founded company, Supergoop!, nonetheless.

Cool PJs are a must for any trip!

“The stars at night are big and BRIGHT,” so pack chic sunnies.

Love this moisturizing mask since everywhere you go inside overdoes it a bit on the AC.

Leave some room in your suitcase for a sussie for your pals back home: a little of our favorite red salsa.
